MICROFIL®化合物将在生理注射压力下填充和不透明非生存动物和死后组织的微血管和其他空间。连续闭合的血管系统本身可以通过注射或灌注技术流动。注射后，MICROFIL化合物固化形成脉管系统的三维铸型。
MICROFIL®MV系列化合物有五种不透射线的颜色以及透明度。MV系列化合物需要水杨酸甲酯或甘油清除顺序，由此清除溶液的折射率与组织的折射率相同。这允许对所选择的血管床进行显微镜检查。
