TheSPHEROUltraRainbowQuantitativeParticleKit(URQP)contains6intensitiesofUltraRaibowBeadswithvariousintensitiesthathavebeenassignedERF(EquivalentNumberofReferenceFluorophores)byNIST.Thesebeadsaredesignedtoaccuraymeasurecomparabledatafromdifferenttypesofinstruments
atdifferentlocations.Inaddition,theURQPcanbeusedforroutinecalibrationofflowcytometers.Byusingtheseparticles,thesensitivity,linearity,andcomponentperformanceofthesystemcanbedetermined.Thesensitivityoftheinstrumentwillhelpdetectanydyeorlightcontamination.TheURQPisusedtochecktheinstrumentsabilitytodistinguishdimpeaksfromblankbeads.Inaddition,theURQPcanaidinthemeasurementofthelinearityoftheinstrumenttodetermineifthelogarithmicampsandPMTsarefunctioningproperly.Finally,theURQPcanbeusedtodetectlaserfluctuations,failedelectronics,orobstructionsintheflowcell.
