SkyScan™1278,theworld"sfastest,low-dose,high-resolutionmicro-CT:Withthelaunchofthenext-generationSkyScan1278micro-CTsystemforinvivoX-raycomputedtomography,BrukerisaddressingthelatestneedsofpreclinicalimagingscientistsstrivingtoreducetherADIationdoseusedinanimalstudies,whilemaintaininghighestimagequality.Aspartofthedevelopment,Brukerhascreatedanewmicro-CTspatialbeamshaper,whichreducestheabsorbeddosebyuptofivetimes,whilemaintaininghighqualityimageoutput.
TheSkyScan1278hasahighlysensitiveflat-paneldetectorthatisabletodeliverimagesofmouseheartandlungactivitiesevenwithoutacontrastagent.Suchimagesallowtheusertoexplorecardiacandrespiratoryfunction,whilereducinganimalstressandthecostofthestudy.Afull-bodyanimalscancantake8secondsorless,reducingruntimesandincreasingthespeedofdatacollection.

BrukerannouncesthefirstcustomerinstallationofitsMPIPreClinical,apreclinicalMagneticParticleImaging(MPI)scanner,attheUniversityMedicalCenterHamburg-Eppendorf(UKE),Germany.Significantly,thismarksthefirsttimethatMPItechnologyhasbeendeliveredinacommercialsystem.PreclinicalMPIisanentirelynewtechnologyforinvivoimagingofsmallanimalsusedintranslationalresearch.
ThenewMPIPreClinicalwasannouncedin2013andistheresultofBruker"scollaborationwithRoyalPhilips(NYSE:PHG,AEX:PHIA).ItcombinesBruker"sleadershipinpreclinicalimagingwithPhilips"strengthinmedicalimaging.MPIwasinventedbyscientistsatPhilipsandusesthedetectionofmagneticiron-oxidenanoparticlesinjectedintothebloodstreamtoproducethree-dimensionalimagesatmillisecondintervals,providingthepotentialforreal-time3Dimaginginvivo.MPI"shightime-resolutionallowsresearcherstoinvestigatearangeofdynamicissues,e.g.incardiovascularresearch,whichcannotbestudiedusingothertechniques.

BrukerintroducestheBioSpec®210/11,anew21Teslaultra-highfieldMRIwithCryoProbe™forsmallanimalMagneticResonanceImaging(MRI).Asinvivoinvestigationshiftsfromorganandtissueimagingtocellularandmolecularresearch,asignificantboostinsensitivityandresolutionisrequired.Withtheunique21TMRI,Brukercustomerscansetnewperformancebenchmarksandgainnewinsightsinpreclinicalresearch.
TheBioSpec210/11isbasedonBruker"sproven21Tesla11cmUSR™magnetthatisalreadysuccessfullyusedinFT-massspectrometry.UltraShield™magnettechnologyreducesmagneticstrayfields,whileBruker"sactiverefrigerationtechnologyvirtuallyeliminatescryogenrefills,reducingdown-timeandusermaintenanceefforts.
