Thedopaminetransporter(DAT)isresponsIBLeforthereaccumulationofdopamineafterithasbeenreleased.DATantibodiesandantibodiesforotherMarkersofcatecholaminebiosynthesisarewidelyusedasmarkersfordopaminergicandnoradrenergicneuronsinavarietyofapplicationsincludingdepression,schizophrenia,Parkinson’sdiseaseanddrugabuse(Kishetal.,2001;Zhuetal.,2000;Zhuetal.,1999).LevelsofDATproteinexpressionarealteredbychronicdrugadmiNISTration(Wilsonetal.,1996).
