Thecomplexingcapacityofsynthetic(0.011Mtartratein13.5%ethanol)andrealwine(RaimatAbadia)intitrationswithaddedtotalZnconcentrationsupto0.03MhasbeendeterminedfollowingthefreeZnconcentrationswithAGNES(absenceofgradientsandNernstianequilibriumstripping)technique.Acorrectiontofindthepreconcentrationfactororgain(Y₁)reallyappliedateachoneoftheionicstrengthsreachedduetoZnadditionsalongthetitrationhasbeenapplied.ThestandardimplementationofAGNEStorealwineledtotheobservationoftwoanomalousbehaviors:(a)anincreasinglynegativecurrentinthedepositionstage(labeledas“HER”effect)and(b)aminimuminthecurrentsofthestrippingstageplot(labeledasthe“dip”effect).ApracticalstrategytoapplyAGNESavoidingthedipeffecthasbeendevelopedtoquantifyproperlyfreeZnconcentrations.ThevandenBerg–Ružic–Leelinearizationmethod(assumingtheexistenceofjust1:1complexes)hasbeenadaptedtoconsiderthedilutioneffectandtheionicstrengthchanges.Aggregatedstabilityconstantsandtotalligandconcentrationshavebeencalculatedfromsyntheticandwinetitrationdata.Thefoundcomplexingcapacityinthestudiedwine(C_T,L=0.0179±0.0007M)indicatesthecontributionofligandsotherthantartrate(whichisconfirmedtobethemainone).
