Helicobacter pylori, a Gram negative spiral bacilli, is known to be the cause of chronic gastritis and peptic ulcer disease and is strongly associated with gastric cancer. Therefore, the rapid detection of H.pylori infection is necessary for prevention and treatment. H.pylori antibody test by enzyme immunoassay is relatively simple and easy diagnostic tool, compared with traditional culture which is technically difficult, and other methods. We compared three different commercial Hi.pylori ELISA assay kits (Monobind, RADIM, Orion). 3 ELISA kits rely on the determination of Hi.pylori antibodies in serum by means of enzyme immunoassay. RADIM and Orion used the microtiter wells coated with the specific Hipylori antigens and anti human immunoglobulin. Monobind used biotinylated Hipylori antigen, the surface of streptoavidin coated wells, and anti human immunoglobulin. After stopping the reaction of 3 ELISA kits, the colour is measured by a photometer(Monobind:45Onm, RADIM:45Onm, Orion:405nm). In 70 random samples, the positive results by screening ELISA kits were 47.1%(33 cases) by Monobind, 78.6%(55 cases) by RADIM, 65.7%(46 cases) by Orion. We compared correlation of SIC values among the 3 ELISA kits, we cannot find significant difference. Our results were no statistically significant difference among the 3 ELISA kits. Further study for ELISA test would be warranted to evaluate the significance of antibody test in Korea.
