metastin的受体（kisspeptin-54或kp-54），KiSS1的C末端酰胺化肽。KiSS1是一种转移抑制蛋白，可抑制恶性黑素瘤和某些乳腺癌的转移，而不会影响致瘤性。转移抑制性质可以部分地通过细胞周期停滞和诱导恶性细胞中的细胞凋亡来介导。该受体对于正常促性腺激素释放的激素生理学和青春期是必需的。下丘脑KiSS1/KISS1R系统是青春期和成年期中枢性轴的中枢调节的关键因素。受体也可能参与滋养层本身产生的滋养层侵袭的调节和微调。由受体激活的转导途径的分析鉴定了通过百日咳毒素不敏感的G（q）蛋白与磷脂酶C的偶联和细胞内钙释放。
