Epigeneticdatabasesareoneofofourfavoritefuturistictoolsand nowatimetravelingcrewfrom ReactionBiologyCorporation(RBC) land agrantfromthe NationalCenterforAdvancingTranslationalSciences (NCATS) tocreateanimpressivedatabaseofepigeneticdruginteractions.TheteamatRBCisundertakingacolossaleffortexamining alibraryof1,400compounds,includingalmosteveryFDAapproveddrug.Theyplantoassaythemagainstoverthirtyepigeneticenzymes,leADIngtoatotalofover42,000individualexperiments!TheRBCteamplanstousethisepigeneticdrugdatabasetogeneratearoadmapfor thecreationof newdrugsandgiveahelpinghandintakingonvariousepigeneticdiseasesanddisorders.Interestingly,notonlywillRBCcreatenewdrugsbuttheyalsoplantousetheirdatafromthesideeffectsofknownFDAdrugstore-purposeexistingdrugsfornewtreatments.

ObtainingalistofknownHMTinhibitingstructureswouldsignificantlyaccelerateepigeneticdrugdiscovery,ultimatelyprovidinggreaterinsightstotheactivity,potentialbenefitsandsafetyofdrugsonthemarket.Inaddition,weanticipatethisdatabasewillhelpacceleratethedevelopmentofnewdrugscurrentlybeinginvestigated,andmaybeusefulindrugrescueandrepurposingefforts.
