Fecesdon’tnormallycontainmeasurableamountsofblood,thusoccultbloodinfecesisasignofbleedinginthegastrointestinaltract.Thismaybecausedby,forexample,hemorrhoids,butmayalsobeasignofcolorectalcancer.

TheActim®FecalBloodrapidtestisbasedonhighlyspecificmonoclonalantibodiesthatonlydetecthumanhemoglobin.Therefore,nodietaryrestrictionsconcerningredmeat,orvegetablesandfruitswithperoxidaseactivityarerequired.Asaresult,thetestcanbetakenatanytime.
Thankstoitsoptimalsensitivityandhighspecificity(94%),ActimFecalBlooddetectsgastrointestinalbleedingevenbeforevisiblesignsandhelpstoavoidunnecessary,uncomfortable,andcostlyexams.
Theinnovativeleak-proofsampletubeallowshygienicsamplecollection–evenathome.Thesamplingdeviceautomaticallyadjuststheamountofsample,whichensuresthattestresultsarealwaysconsistent.Thewholetestcanbecarriedoutwithoutopeningthetubecap.Thisguaranteescleananduser-friendlytesting.Aftersamplecollection,thesampletubecanbestoredatroomtemperatureforuptooneweek,whichenablestakingmultiplesamplesonvariousdays.

ActimFecalBloodforreliableandconvenienttesting
Actim®FecalBloodtestkitcontainsallnecessarymaterialsandcanbestoredatroomtemperature:2–30°C.
OpentheSpecimenDilutionBuffertubeandtakesomefecesusingthesamplingstickattachedtothescrewcap.Twistthestickindifferentplacesinthefecessample.
Putthesamplingstickbackintothetubebypushingthesticktroughtheconeandclosethecaptightly.ShakethetubetosUSPendthespecimeninthebuffer.
Usethesharptipoftheperforatingdevice(dipstick)topuncturetheperforationareainthebottomofthebuffertubethenpushthedeviceintothetubeuntilthestopperpreventsitgoingfurther.
Slowlyinvertthetubeupsidedownonceandimmediatelyplacethetubeonthetableinanuprightposition.
Itisimportantthattheinvertingmovementisnottooabrupt,apeacefulinversionisvitalforthecorrectperformanceofthetest.Also,thetubemustnotremainupsidedown.
Apositiveresultcanbereadassoonasitbecomesvisible.Twobluelines=occultbloodinfeces,furtherinvestigationisneeded.
Anegativeresultshouldbeconfirmedat10minutes.Oneblueline=nooccultbloodinfeces.
