Vital River to Supply the NOG Mouse
BEIJING, December 10, 2014 — Vital River Laboratory Animal Technology Co, a leader in laboratory animal supply and services in China, has established production of the CIEA NOG Mouse in Beijing through a License Agreement with In-Vivo Sciences (IVS) and the Central Institute for Experimental Animals (CIEA).
The NOG is a severely immunocompromised mouse model used in applied research applications, as a tool for drug discovery, pre-clinical tests towards the development of new drugs and therapies against various human diseases, and also in basic research applications such as immunology, hematology and cancer. Additionally humanized NOG mice are being used by many researchers around the world advancing contributions to medical research.
Nomenclature: NOD.Cg-Prkdc
scid IL2rg
tm1Sug/JicCrl
Coat Color: White (Albino)
Inbred Mice Origin:The CIEA NOG mouse
® was developed by Mamoru Ito of the Central Institute for Experimental Animals (CIEA) in Japan. Dr. Ito’s group in CIEA was successful in establishing an extremely immunocompromised mouse called the NOG (NOD/Shi-scid, IL-2Rγnull) mouse by crossing the NOD/scid mouse and the IL-2 receptor-γ chain (a common receptor for several cytokines) knockout (IL2rγKO) mouse. The NOG mouse showed markedly better survival rates of the engraftments of the human cells and tissues than the NOD/scid mouse. This NOG mouse could carry the normal or cancer human cells and tissues in much higher rates than in NOD/scid mouse. Also, the NOG mouse is gaining demands for the human immune system model, since after the transplantation of the human hematopoietic stem cells, the human T cells were derived in peripheral lymphoid tissues of the NOG mouse.
Characteristics: 1. T and B cell deficient
2. NK cell deficient
3. Reduced macrophage and dendritic cell function
4. Complement activity deficient
5. No incidence of lymphoma
6. No T, B cell leakiness
7. Long life span
8. Sensitive for irradiation
9. Sensitive against microbiological pathogens
10. High engraftment for xeno-transplants
Research application: Human hematopoietic system and human immune system model
Human liver model
Human cancer-bearing model
Human infectious disease model
GVHD model
