HeatInactivation(56°C-30min):
Thistreatmentallowstodestroythecomplementactingintheimmunesystemtoavoidaninterferencewithsomeexperimentation,inparticularthetestsofimmunology.Itallowsalsotoinactivatevirusesandtodestroysomebacterialcontaminantssuchasthemycoplasma.

GammaIrrADIation:
Theserumisgammairradiatedat25kGy.
Gammairradiatedserumminimizestheriskassociatedwiththeuseofanimalproductsandoffersprotectionagainstlowlevelsofmicrobialcontaminants.Thetreatmentinactivatesthevirusesoffootandmouthdisease,vesicularstomatitis,rinderpest,pestedespetitsruminants,Riftvalleyfever,bluetongue.whilemaintaininggrowthpromotionpotential.

CharcoalStripping:
BioIndoffersCharcoal/DextranstrippedFetalBovineserumforresearchersrequiringlowlevelsofhormones.Charcoal/Dextranstrippingreducestheconcentrationofsteroidhormonesinserumsuchasestradiol,progesterone,cortisol,testosterone,T3andT4.Thisserumisusefullwherethereendogenousmoleculesmayinterferewithexperimentalworks.ThisserummayshowsomereducedgrowthpromotionABIlityforcellsrequiringthepresenceofcertainhormones(BIBLio:Northbio).

Dialysation:
Thedialysisreducestheconcentrationoffreelowmolecularweightcomponentssuchasnucleotides,aminoacids,hormonesandions.Weuseadynamicfiltrationmethodtoproduceourdialysedserum.


IgGlow(< 5 mg / l) :
TheIgGlevelinthefetalbovineserumisingeneralbetween50and200mg/l,itisalowlevelcomparedtotheotherseraastheNewBornCalfserum.However,thislevelcancausesomeproblemsforsomeutilisations,thatiswhyweselecttheserawithalevel< 5mg/l for the users.

LipidDepletion:BioIndusesthefumedsilicaprecipitationmethodforremovinglipids.Thefumedsilicapowderisaddedtotheserum.Itswellmixedtogether.Afterthesolutioniscentrifuged.Thesupernatantcontainstheserumandthelipidsarewiththesilicainthepellet.
 

CalciumStripping:
Thecalciumdepletionisachievedusingchromatographycolumns(ion-exchangeresin).Thisresinisselectivefordivalentcationsovermonovalentcations(Itfollowsthatcopper,iron,magnesium,zincetc.levelswillbeloweredtoo).Thisserummayshowsomereducedgrowthpromotionofcellsrequiringthepresenceofcalciumorotherdivalentcations.

Tetracycline:
TheserumistestedforthepresenceofChlortetracycline,OxytetracyclineandTetracyclinebyaliquidchromatographyelectrosprayionisationtandemmassspectrometrymethod.Thedetectionlimitis< 0.05 mg/l.

IronSupplementation:
A1%Ferriccitratesterilesolutionisaddedtotheserumat0,246%(v/v).Thentheserumiswellmixed.Transferrinisnormally20to40%boundtoiron.
