Cedarlaneanti-humanTamm-Horsfallprotein(THP)isamonoclonalantibodywhichreactswithanepitopeoftheurinarymucoprotein.Tamm-Horsfallproteinisaglycoproteinofapproximately80kDacontainingupto25%carbohydratebyweight.Itexistsasahighmolecularweightpolymerinurineandapproximately50mgoftheTHPareexcretedperdaybyadulthumans.THPisproducedbytheepithelialcellsliningthethickascendingloopofHenleanddistalconvolutedtubulesofthekidney.THPisalsotheprimaryconstituentofrenaltubularcastsandTHPaggregationhasbeenimplicatedasafactorinthepathogenesisofacuterenalfailurebycausingtubularobstruction.AntibodytoTHPispresentintheserumofpatientswithpyelonephritisandreflusuropathy.
CL1032APcanbeusedinindirectimmunosorbentenzymeassaysorinimmunohistopathologyforstainingoffrozensectionsandformalinfixed,paraffinembeddedtissuesbyindirectimmunofluorescenceorimmunoperoxidase.ItcanalsobeusedtopurifyTHPbybindingtoasolidphase.ThismonoclonalantibodyhasshowngoodlocalizationtothedistaltubuleandcollectingductaswellastolargedepositsofTamm-Horsfallproteinwhichhascloggedperi-pelvicveins.Thisantibodyalsoworkswithcaninetissue.______________________________________________________________________________________________________
