1. Myc-Trap® Background
The Myc Tag, derived from the c-Myc protein, is a popular epitope tag for detecting the expression of recombinant proteins in yeast, bacteria, insect and mammalian cell systems. The Myc tag may be fused to either the N-terminus, C-terminus of a protein or internal. The short linear peptide sequence of the Myc-tag is N-EQKLISEEDL-C and has a size of about 1.2 kDa.
2. ChromoTek Myc-Trap® Description
ChromoTek Myc-Trap® for Immunoprecipitation: The ChromoTek Myc-Trap® is a single domain antibody fragment coupled to agarose beads for immunoprecipitation / pull down of Myc-tagged proteins. Myc-Trap® is available as both agarose (product code yta- ) and magnetic agarose beads (ytma- ) in standard pack sizes for 2 (test sample), 10, 20, 100, 200, and 400 runs each.
3. Positioning Statement
The ChromoTek Myc-Trap® is a unique and premium tool for immunoprecipitation of Myc-tagged proteins. It is designed to meet the requirements of subsequent downstream applications including mass spectrometry as it provides pure extracts of Myc-tagged protein.
4. Value Proposition
The ChromoTek Myc-Trap® is a convenient and high-performing tool, ready to use, for fast and efficient one-step immunoprecipitation of Myc-tagged proteins. It is compatible to downstream applications including mass spectrometric analysis as it provides pure extracts of Myc-tagged protein without contaminating heavy and light chain peptides known from conventional antibodies.
5. Targeted Markets
The ChromoTek Myc-Trap® targeted markets comprise biochemistry and proteomics research in academia and pharma/biotech. Due to licensing reasons the use in production, for diagnostic purposes, therapeutics’ development for human or animal subjects, and in clinical trials is prohibited.
6. Customers
Biochemists, cell biologist, molecular biologists, biotechnologists. Likely the laboratories have already experiences with and publications of Myc-tagged proteins and their genetic constructs. It is likely that GFP/RFP/GST-Trap® customers may use the Myc-Trap® too. This is because most customers utilize multiple protein/peptide tags.
7. Customers’Applications
The ChromoTek Myc-Trap® is designed for immunoprecipitation of Myc-tagged proteins and their interacting factors from cell or organelle extracts and lysates for a multitude of biochemical analyses such as Immunoprecipitation (IP)/ co-IP, mass spectrometry, enzyme activity measurements and ChIP/ RIP analysis.
8. Competition
Competitors include Sigma, EMD, Cell Signalling, Roche, Abcam, Pierce, Clontech, and Biomol (Bethyl), which are all using classical antibodies coupled to agarose.
9. Sales Strategy
We advise to have customers testing the Myc-Trap®. Therefore we offer Myc-Trap® test samples.Pack size is sufficient for 2 IP runs.
