石油分析用甾烷内标标准品，指示沉积环境和判断有机质演化程度—上海甄准 甾烷是一组不对称异构多环环烷烃的总称，具有旋光性，包括有胆甾烷(cholestane)、麦角甾烷(ergostane)和谷甾烷(sitostane)等。
在沉积物和原油中已经找到许多甾烷(还有甾烯)，显然是生物中的甾族(甾醇)化合物转化而来的。它们可能来自动物(如胆甾烷)、植物(如麦角甾烷、谷甾烷等)。一般认为，陆地动植物体内的甾族化合物不如水生的动植物中的重要。因此，富含甾烷化合物的沉积物一般是海相的或者湖相的。甾烷化合物是重要的生物标志，在低温下比较稳定，可以用来进行油源对比，指示沉积环境和判断有机质演化程度。
