GlyoxalaseIIconvertsS-D-LactoylglutathioneandwaterintoD-Lactatefromtheglyoxalasesystempathway.ThenormalserumconcentrationsinmammalsofD-Lactatearerelativelylowranginginthenanotomicromolarlevel.Howeverduringabacterialinfectioninhumanstheserumconcentrationcanrisetothemillimolarrange.HighconcentrationsofD-lactateareindicativeofischemia,traumaorsepsis.TheD-LactateAssayKitisbasedonthespecificallyoxidizedD-lactatebyD-Lactatedehydrogenasewhichexhibitsanabsorbancemaximumat490nm.Theintensityoftheabsorbanceisproportionaltothelactateconcentration.Usingasetoflactatestandards,theassaycanmeasuretheconcentrationoflactateinsamples(plasma,medium,orothers)inaquantitativemanner.Thekitisstableuntiltheexpirationdateofunderproperstorageandhandlingconditions.Theproductisforresearchonly.
