Transfectionwithcommonlipidicorpolycationicreagentscanbeenhancedbymagneticassistance("MagnetAssistedLipofection").Inthiscase,thenucleicacidhastobecombinedwithMALipofectionEnhancerinthepresenceofacommonlipidbasedorpolycationicreagent.TheformulationofMALipofectionEnhancer,whichcontainsmagneticnanoparticles(MagTag®),canbeusedwithIBA"slipofectionreagentIBAfectoranyothercommerciallyavailablelipofectionreagent.

TheMALipofectionEnhancerissuitableforadherentcells;forsUSPensioncellsMATra-SImmobilizerisrequiredinaddition.Moreover,theMALipofectionEnhancercanbeusedforviraltransfection.ForthetransfectionprocedureaMATramagnetplateisessential.

AllMATrareagentswithmagneticbeadshavetobestoreddistant(>10cm)fromstrongmagneticfieldsliketheMagnetPlatesatalltimes!!!Otherwiseagglutinationofthebeadsmayleadtocompletelossoftransfectionfunction.
