VMRD/Canine Coombs Reagent 5 ml/392-5/5 ml

DESCRIPTION

TheCoombstest,alsocalleddirectantiglobulintest,isdesignedtodetectimmune-mediatederythrocytedestructionwhichoccursinautoimmunehemolyticanemias,andinsomecaseswithinfections,neoplasticdisorderscaninesystemiclupuserythematosis.Hemolysisinthesediseasesiscausedbyerythrocytesbeingcoatedwithantibody(IgG,IgM)and/orcomplementcomponents(C3).Coatederythrocytesareeitherlysedinthebloodstreamand/orremovedbyphagocytes.TheCoombsreagentisanantiserumtoIgG,IgM,andC3preparedingoats.Afterobtainingtheantiserum,complementisinactivatedat56degreesCfor30minutesandthentheantiserumisabsorbedrepeatedlywithwashednormalcanineerythrocytes.ThesetreatmentsensurethattheCoombsreagentwillnotreactwithnormalerythrocytes.However,erythrocytesthatarecoatedwithIgG,IgM,and/orC3willbeagglutinatedbytheCoombsreagentasitcontainsantibodiestoIgG,IgM,andC3.
