EndotoxinRemovalBeadsrepresenttheidealtoolforfastandeasyremovalofendotoxinandDNAfrompurifiedproteinpreparations.
Preparationsofrecombinantproteinsareoftencontaminatedwithendotoxins(lipopolysaccharides,LPS)andDNAfromhostbacteria.BacterialendotoxinsandDNAshowstrongBIOLOGicaleffectsinmanymammalsaswellasincellcultures.Ifpurifiedrecombinantproteinsareusedforinvivoorinvitroassays,efficientremovalofendotoxinsandbacterialDNAisrequiredtoavoidnon-specificdetrimentaleffects.
ThecovalentlyboundpolycationicmoietyoftheEndotoxinRemovalBeadsshowsstrongbindingtobothendotoxinsandDNA.
