The17A2antibodyreactswiththemouseCD3complex,comprisedofCD3epsilon,CD3gammaandCD3delta.TheseintegralmembraneproteinchainsassemblewithadditionalchainsoftheTcellreceptor(TCR),aswellasCD3zetachain,toformtheTcellreceptor–CD3complex.Togetherwithco-receptorsCD4orCD8,thecomplexservestorecognizeantigensboundtoMHCmoleculesonantigen-presentingcells.SuchinteractionspromoteTcellreceptorsignaling(Tcellactivation)andcanresultinanumberofcellularresponsesincludingproliferation,differentiation,productionofcytokinesoractivation-inducedcelldeath.CD3isdifferentiallyexpressedduringthymocyte-to-TcelldevelopmentandonallmatureTcells.
