Thisstructureiscomposedoftwoheterodimers,theAchainandtheBchaincontainingthetypeIIIconnectingsegmentregion.Cellularfibronectindiffersfromplasmafibronectinbythepresenceofadditionalpolypeptidesegmentsanditscapacitytospecificallyregulatemorphologyandgrowthofattachedcellsincludingstemcells[1,2,3,4].Multipledomainsoffibronectinshowbindingaffinitiesforcollagen,fibrin,heparin,andspecificcellmembranereceptorssuchasintegrins.Fibronectinmatrixassemblyisessentialfornormaldevelopmentandcontributestothegenerationoftumormetastases.
