Tocompletetheassay,theES12isaddedtoamicrotiterplatethatcontainsimmobilizedglycatedLDLandsolubleglycatedLDL(standardorexperimentalsample).ThemonoclonalantibodybindstoeithertheimmobilizedglycatedLDLorthesolublephaseglycatedLDLduringtheprimaryincubation,hencethenotionofcompetitivebinding.Reactantsinthefluidphasearesubsequentlywashedaway,andcapturedES12onthesolidphaseisdetectedwithanenzymeconjugatedanti-mouseantibody.TheresultsaremadequantitativeafterchromogenicreactionwithTMB.
