Anti-PAK

GloboZymes Anti-PAK is an affinity-purified polyclonal rabbit antibody produced to a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues 484-502 of human PAK1. The antibody is useful for Western blotting. For example, the antibody may be used at 1:1000 dilution with 30 μg HEK293 cell extracts. In addition to PAK1, the antibody displays some reactivity with PAK2.

Synonyms: Anti-p65PAK; Anti-p68PAK; Antibody to p21-Activated Protein Kinase.

Background: The p21-GTPase-activated protein kinases (PAK’s) are a family of enzymes which regulate numerous processes. These processes include cell morphology and cytoskeleton organization, cell motility, apoptosis, neuronal functions, cell cycle progression, and other processes. PAK’s interact with several important regulatory proteins including Protein Phosphatase 2A (PP2A), ribosomal protein S6 kinase, Mixed Lineage Kinase (MLK2), and the SH3-SH2 adapter Nck. Physiological targets of PAK include p38 MAP kinase, JNK, cRaf-1 and Synapsin I. The catalytic domain of PAK is produced in apoptotic cells via a caspase-dependent pathway. Unlike the native enzymes, the catalytic domain does not require Rac or Cdc42 to undergo autophosphorylation and activation.
