DiBAC4(3)(Bis-(1,3-Dibarbituricacid)-trimethineoxanol)isaso-calledtranslationalmembranepotentialdyethatredistributeswithinthecellmembranewhenmembranepotentialchanges(1,2).Thefluorescenceofthedyeisenhancedwhenthedyeentersthecellmembraneasaresultofmembranedepolarization.

DiBAC4(3)(Bis-(1,3-Dibarbituricacid)-trimethineoxanol)isaso-calledtranslationalmembranepotentialdyethatredistributeswithinthecellmembranewhenmembranepotentialchanges(1,2).Thefluorescenceofthedyeisenhancedwhenthedyeentersthecellmembraneasaresultofmembranedepolarization.Therateoffluorescenceresponseofthedyetomembranepotentialchangeisusuallyslowerthanthatofthestyryldyedi-4-ANEPPS,butthefluorescencesignalchangefortheformerissignificantlylargerthanforthelatterdye.DiBAC4(3)hasapplicationsinhigh-throughputdrugscreening.
