Description
The propidium iodide (PI) solution is intended to evaluate cell viability and/or discriminate late apoptotic or necrotic cells by flow cytometry. PI is an intercalating agent and a fluorescent molecule. It binds to double stranded DNA, but is excluded from cells with intact plasma membranes.
Contents
Propidium iodide (PI) - 1 vial (0.5 ml) of Ready-to-use solution. No reconstitution is necessary.
Formulation
Propidium iodide (PI) diluted in deionized water (0.1 mg/ml).
Storage and handling
Store in the dark at 2-8°C. Do not freeze. Avoid prolonged exposure to light. Do not use after expiration date stamped on vial label.
