Lucigenisthesoleproviderofhigh-efficiencyelectrocompetentCJ236cells.ThiscelllinewascreatedbyaddingthepCJ105plasmidtoBW313cells2,andisideallysuitedtotheKunkeldirectedmutagenesismethod.ThismethodreliesonthecellsproducingplasmidDNAcontainingsomeuracilresidues.Thedut-andung-mutationspreventthecellsfromremovinguracilfromDNAcausedbymisincorporationordCTPdeamination.NotethatthesecellscontainanF’whichconfersresistancetoChloramphenicolatlowlevels.
