TheMY31antibodyreactswithhumanCD56,alsoknownastheneuralcelladhesionmolecule(NCAM),aglycoproteinwhichisamemberoftheimmunoglobulinsuperfamily.The140kDaisoformofCD56isexpressedonhumanNKcellsandNK-Tcells,withincreasedexpressionlevelsonactivatedNKlymphocytes.TheCD56antigenisalsoexpressedbyneuronsandisreportedtoplayaroleinnervoussystemdevelopmentandneuralcell-to-celladhesion.
CloneMY31alsoreactswithasubsetofCD14+monocytesinnon-humanprimates,andisreportedtobecross-reactivewithChimpanzee,CynomolgusandRhesus.
