TheMF23antibodyreactswithmouseFoxp3,a50-55kDatranscriptionfactorwhichisacentralregulatorofTcellactivityandiscriticalforthedevelopmentandfunctionofregulatoryTcells(Tregs).Foxp3isamemberoftheforkheadboxorwingedhelixfamilyoftranscriptionfactorsandisexpressedatconstitutivelyhighlevelsinTregcells.ForcedexpressionofFoxp3inconventionalTcellsresultsintheupregulationofTregassociatedmoleculessuchasCD25,CTLA-4,andGITRandissufficienttoimpartsuppressivefunctionalactivitytothesecells.
