AKTmediatesmanyofthedownstreameventsofPI3-kinase(alipidkinaseactivatedbygrowthfactors,cytokinesandinsulin).PI3-kinaserecruitsAKTtothemembrane,whereitisactivatedbyPDK1phosphorylation.Oncephosphorylated,AKTdissociatesfromthemembraneandphosphorylatestargetsinthecytoplasmandthecellnucleus.
