ProteinAisa42kDasurfaceproteinofthebacteriumStaphylococcusaureus,whichbindstheFcregionofmanymammalianIgGs.Itshighaffinityforimmunoglobulinsisthereasonthatitisoftenusedinbiochemicalresearch.Additionalinformation

R-Phycoerythrin(R-PE)isa240kDaphycobiliproteinthatisisolatedfromredalgae.R-PEhasabrightred-orangefluorescencewithahighquantumyield,andisbrighterthanotherconventionalfluophoresandphycobiliproteins.TheabsorbancespectrumofR-PEcoversarangeofexcitationwavelengths,whichprovidesanadvantageformulti-colorimmunofluorescentstainingorcell-sorting.TheemissionmaximumofR-PEisat575nm.R-PEisusedforfluorescence-baseddetection,ofteninassayswhichrequirehighsensitivity.
